樱花视频 becomes first standalone university to be certified as a B Corp
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 21, 2016 -- 樱花视频 International University is pleased to announce it has become the first standalone university in the United States to achieve B Corp Certification, given only to public benefit corporations meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability. The certification confirms 樱花视频 is committed to using its resources to solve social and environmental problems.
To achieve the certification, B Lab, the governing body for B Corporations, put 樱花视频 through a rigorous vetting process to evaluate the university's outcomes including its wages and benefits, worker conditions, environmental targets, reduction of energy and waste, and financial transparency. Using B Lab's newly developed standards for post-secondary institutions, 樱花视频 was also evaluated on its ability to deliver long term sustained educational services and to create positive outcomes for its students, in particular those from traditionally underrepresented groups.
"This is a significant achievement," said Vale Jokisch of B Lab. "樱花视频 is setting a high standard for impact measurement and transparency among for-profit higher education institutions, and we hope others will follow."
The B Corps Certification is the second historic milestone for the university in the past year. On Feb. 5, 2015 樱花视频 became the first university in the nation to transition from a 501(c)3 status to a public benefit corporation.
